What I Worked on

Research

Talk to stake holders and users, create prototypes, get insights, improve.

Strategy

Product planning, rollout plan, release cycles.

Design

Sketches, wireframes and Prototypes.

Analytics

Events and real-time data visualisations.

Highlights

1
Go mobile

You have elevator control in your pocket, as our eCall app simply connects to your Compass destination dispatch elevator via your network or the building’s internet.

4
Easy access

Fine tune the experience with the accessibility mode, which can lengthen door opening times.

2
Why wait?

Just call your elevator as you approach, so it’s ready to go when you arrive.

5
Easy to use

In three easy steps you can start. Just Install the eCall App, Call the Elevator, Proceed to assigned Elevator.

3
One for all

You can use your app across a number of buildings.

Getting Started

Product Definition

First we have started off with the most important phase of UX design process, Before starting to build a product, understanding its context for existence is very important. The product definition phase gave a clear foundation for the final product. During this phase, we brainstormed around the product at the highest level, basically, the concept of the product with stakeholders. This includes

Stakeholder interviews - Interviewing key stakeholders to gather insights about business goals.

Value proposition mapping - Marking key aspects and value propositions of the product: what it is, who will use it, and why they will use it. Value propositions helped the team and stakeholders create consensus around what the product will be and how to match user and business needs.

Concept sketching - creating an early mockup of the App, basically coming up with low-fidelity paper sketches of the app

Product Research

User Interviews - For a great product experience starts with a good understanding of the users. In-depth interviews provided us with qualitative data about the target audience, such as their needs, wants, fears, motivations, and behavior.

Competitive research - This helped us in understanding the current products in industry, standards and identify opportunities for the app within its particular niche.

Analysis

User personas - Created Personas which are fictional characters that represent the different user types for your App. As we design our product, we can reference these personas as realistic representations of our target audience.

Creating user stories - A user story is a tool that helps designers understand the product/service interactions from the user’s point of view. It’s usually defined with the following structure: “As a [user] I want to [goal to achieve] so that [motivation].”

Storyboarding - Storyboarding a tool that helps us connect user personas and user stories which is essential to know about a user interacting with the App.

Design

Sketching - UX sketching is a crucial, yet often overlooked, aspect of user experience design. Sketching is a very efficient way of communicating design while allowing designers to try out a multitude of ideas and iterate them before settling on one.

Wireframes - Wireframes helped us to visualize the basic structure of the app, including the key elements and how they fit together. Wireframing acts as the backbone of the product, and its the foundation for all the mockups and prototypes.

Prototypes - While wireframes are mostly about structure and visual hierarchy, prototypes are about the actual interaction experience the look and feel. We created a prototype where we kind of simulated the app with high-fidelity coded prototype.

Design specification - After the prototype is approved by the stake holders. We added design specifications containing all of the visual design assets required for developers to turn the prototype into a working app.

Validation

Internal Testing - In the first stage of validation, its the in-house testing team who started testing the App. We tried using the App on a regular basis, completing routine operations to uncover any major usability flaws.

Testing Sessions - The second stage of testing is conducted with our target audience. Which is very important. This is carried out in our test towers where we have sufficient testing elevators.

Analytics - Collected Quantitative data (clicks, navigation time, queries, etc.) from an analytical tool was very helpful to uncover how users interact with the App. Based on the Data we did minor tweaks to the app and finally launched it.

Connect the app via bluetooth to your cell phone and you and the building's inhabitants can operate the elevators, creating a fast, contactless experience.

The eCall Plus app is designed to give customers the ability to call and place a call and make a destination request without having to touch any buttons or surfaces in the elevator. Making destination requests through eCall Plus allows the user to use their personal phone.
